The RMA25 Abstract Review Panel invite you to submit an abstract to be considered for inclusion in the 2025 program!

Abstract submissions close on Friday 9 May 2025 at 23:59pm (AEST). 

Notification of acceptances will be emailed on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

Instructions to authors and abstract guidelines

Please ensure that you have reviewed all instructions below before submitting your abstract.

There are three submission portals; please use the abstract submission portal for the presentation type you are submitting:

Presentation types

Submissions are welcome in the following presentation types:

Verbal or poster presentation

  • Academic or scientific poster presentation
  • Academic or scientific verbal presentation (30-minute / 60-minute duration)
  • Non-academic poster presentation
  • Non-academic verbal presentation (30-minute / 60-minute duration)

Panels

  • Panel discussion (30-minute / 60-minute / 90-minute duration)

Workshops

  • Practical workshop (30-minute / 60-minute / 90-minute duration)

You are welcome to submit more than one presentation, and more than one type of presentation.

Themes/hot topics

We encourage submissions that align with one the following themes/hot topics as well as other relevant topics:

  1. Going the distance: courage, creativity and collaboration
  2. GP management of ADHD and neurodivergence in patients, trainees and medical professionals
  3. GP management of transgender medicine
  4. Creative/innovative thinking in medicine and training education
  5. Workshops that indirectly or directly incorporate medicine with other hobbies that medical professionals may have e.g. Anatomy drawing classes
  6. Other
Abstract format

Please follow the prompts in the submission portal to input the required information. You will need to compile the below information depending on your presentation type to complete your abstract submission.

Academic and Non-academic abstract (for verbal or poster presentation)

  • Title of up to 12 words
  • All author names and affiliation details
  • Brief overview of your submission (200 words) to describe your presentation within the program if your abstract is successfully selected. We recommend you include information such as the purpose and importance of the research, methods, main findings and/or implications of your findings to help delegates understand what you will be presenting.
  • Abstract text for the following sections:
    Introduction (100 words)
    Explain why this presentation topic is important or necessary by describing what motivated the chosen topic for presentation.
    Methods (150 words)
    Provide an overview of the presentation including your central idea or key points, learning outcomes, what participants can expect during the presentation and any opportunities for practical applications.
    Results (150 words)
    Present your findings using past tense.
    Discussion (150 words)
    Please share the discussion section of your abstract. 
  • Primary presenter’s brief biographical paragraph (up to 150 words in third person)


Panel discussion

  • Title of up to 6 words
  • All author names and affiliation details
  • Brief overview of your submission (200 words) to describe your presentation within the program if your abstract is successfully selected. We recommend you include information such as the purpose and importance of the research, methods, main findings and/or implications of your findings to help delegates understand what you will be presenting.
  • Objective and Takeaways? (150 words)
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Does your presentation have an Indigenous Health (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and/or Global) focus?
  • Does your presentation contain Case Based Discussion with participants? (If YES, please provide details, including the duration of this component. Maximum of 60 words).
  • Does your presentation contain an assessment of a practical skill station? (If YES, please provide details, including the duration of this component. Maximum of 60 words).
  • Does your presentation contain outcome measurement activities such as a clinical audit?

Practical workshop

  • Title of up to 12 words
  • All author names and affiliation details
  • Brief overview of your submission (200 words) to describe your presentation within the program if your abstract is successfully selected. We recommend you include information such as the purpose and importance of the research, methods, main findings and/or implications of your findings to help delegates understand what you will be presenting.
  • Objectives and Learning Outcomes (150 words)
    Please clearly state the Objectives and learning outcomes. This will determine any relevant CPD hours and/or may be listed in the program summary.
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What is the workshop format?
    You can choose to provide one or more (mixed) of these workshop formats:
    • Hands-on Workshops: Participants engage in practical activities, promoting skill-building, creativity, and problem-solving.
    • Interactive Workshops: Emphasis engagement and collaboration through group activities like discussions, role-playing, and exercises, fostering communication, teamwork, and innovation.
    • Educational Workshops: Focus on imparting knowledge through presentations, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions led by experts.

Abstract submission portals

Only abstracts submitted via the online abstract submission portals will be considered for the 2025 program. The submission portals are now open and will close on Friday 9 May 2025 at 23:59pm (AEST).

Once an abstract has been submitted, an acknowledgement email will be sent to the primary presenting author. If this email is not received, please first check the spam folder, then contact rmaconference@acrrm.org.au

Abstract review process

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by at least three reviewers.

In evaluating each abstract, reviewers will be unaware of authors or institutions involved with the work described in the abstract. (Abstracts will be suitably anonymised before being sent out to reviewers).

Abstract Review Panel reserves the right to accept, decline or request edits to any abstract submission.

Notification of acceptance

The primary presenting author will be notified of their acceptance status on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

Presentation registration

Presenting authors of all accepted abstracts must register and pay the applicable registration fee by Thursday 10 July 2025 to attend the conference.

If registration isn’t completed by this date, the Abstract Review Panel reserve the right to remove the presentation from the program.

Presentation delivery

The program will be held in person at Crown Perth. All presentations will be recorded and the content re-used post-conference.
