Once a year at the RMA Conference Dinner and Excellence Awards (Friday 22 October 2021), doctors working in rural and remote Australia are rewarded and celebrated for their skills, professionalism, and dedication to their communities. It's a great opportunity for delegates to applaud our deserving award winners for their contributions to rural and remote medicine.
If you know of a GP, registrar or medical student who you believe is making a significant difference in rural and remote medicine, see below the list of awards and descriptions that might match their noteworthy achievements and nominate them today.
Please note: The below awards are both ACRRM, RDAA and joint awards. Nominations have been EXTENDED and will close COB Monday 12 July 2021.
ACRRM & RDAA Rural Registrar of the Year Award
This is awarded to an ACRRM or RDAA registrar who deserves to be recognised for their dedication to their community or to the advancement of rural health.
ACRRM & RDAA Peter Graham 'Cohuna' Award
This award recognises ACRRM or RDAA members or Fellows who have provided outstanding advocacy and medical service to their community to ensure the maintenance of the highest quality of generalist skills, including procedural practice.
ACRRM Presidents’ Prize (Student award)
This prize awards two promising medical students with an all-expenses paid trip to RMA20, including flights and accommodation, social events and a meet and greet with the ACRRM President. Please note: applications for this award have now closed.
RDAA Rural Doctor of the Year Award
This award recognises a member of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) who has displayed work 'above and beyond' the call of duty.
RDAA Medical Student of the Year Award
This is awarded to a current RDAA medical student who is dedicated to rural health and is focused on advancing the lives of those Australians living in rural and remote communities, through the provision of a vibrant and sustainable medical workforce.
RDAA & MDA National Rural Health Bursary
Valued at $7,000 this bursary is intended to assist Aboriginal/Torres Straight Islander medical student with travel, accommodation and other living/study expenses in 2020, as well as attendance at the RMA20 conference.
ACRRM Honorary Fellowship
The Honorary Fellowship is awarded to medical practitioners who have provided a significant contribution to ACRRM and/or the discipline of rural and remote medicine and/or services to the field of education, research, or general services to the health of rural communities.
ACRRM Honorary Membership
The Honorary Membership award recognises the exceptional and significant service to ACRRM and rural and remote medicine. It may be awarded to persons who do not have a registrable medical qualification.
ACRRM Distinguished Service Awards
These awards recognise those Fellows, members, or non-medical persons who have provided a specific and significant, or long-standing contribution, to rural and remote medicine.
ACRRM Life Fellowship Award
The Life Fellowship award is reserved for ACRRM Fellows who have rendered outstanding and meritorious service to the College or to those who have made a contribution of national significance to rural and remote medicine. Recipients will have ongoing membership subscriptions to the College waived and maintain full voting rights.
